Fat Sailor’s Week 2 Goals

I know it’s Wednesday, but I wanted to get my goals out for you all. So based off of my week 1 goals, here are my week 2 goals:

Lose 5 pounds.

Lose 1 inch off of my waist.

Run 15 miles.

Swim 4200 meters.

I probably won’t be able to reach that last one because the base pool has been shut down for going on two days. In the afternoon, they open the pool to families, which I think is awesome. There is still some lap swimming, but it’s rearranged and set up so people can bring thier kids and have a good time. My wife and I have used this benefit on weekends. Anyway, a child had an accident of apparently epic proportions, so the pool is closed while they rebalance the chemicals. So it goes. Anyway, I’ll be doing some other workouts until that gets back in line.

I’m still working towards an average of 1500 calories a day right now, which honestly isn’t too bad. No, it’s not sustainable, but it is possible for now. I am losing weight, mostly junk weight I’m sure, but since I’m so big I have a lot of that to lose. Once I platteau, I’ll go back to my personal trainer and work on something else.

Anyway, wish me luck!

good luck buddy, I’m diggin your drive!

    Two things:

    1. What’s your Fat, Carb, and Protein breakdown for this 1500 calories? Are you still working with the percentages we talked about earlier?

    2. If the swimming is not an option, what will you do instead? You need to do something, and cannot afford to use the “pool was closed” excuse to not exercise. I would suggest this as a great opportunity to begin your weightlifting circuit or try another option that you haven’t tried before.

  3. As a parent I totally get the “accident of epic proportions.” 🙂 Keep up the hard work! Are you still planning to do the NY marathon in Nov?

Stephanie, I apologize for just now seeing this comment. WordPress processes comments differently and I missed it. Anyway, thank you for the encouragement, and yes, I do plan on running the New York City Marathon! I’m so excited about it!

  4. Dan,

Looks like you have really had a great start, keep it up! There is a guy I work with, actually it is 4 guys (a whole shift), and they all went on a modified Atkins diet. I realize that the old Atkins diet was not healthy, but the Atkins diet has been revised, and these guys modified it even more. They are all inside shift workers, and they all have sit down (at a console) jobs….that environment is not very conducive to losing weight, especially working shift work and eating at odd times. All of them have had significant (and visual) weight loss…..some in as little as 3 weeks! Not sure if you have ever checked out the Atkins diet, but it may be worth a look in an amended format! All the best!
